Having worked closely with John Jones on a number of road schemes, CDTS were awarded the seeding contract for the A46. The A46 is the UK’s last major green field new road building scheme.
CDTS began working on the site in 2010 and undertook seeding works over the next two years using various conventional and hydroseeding techniques to enable the phased opening of the road. CDTS used a combination of three hydroseeders and two AEBI mountain tractors to complete the seeding work as areas became available. CDTS were often required to carry out work during the night using floodlights to ensure that areas were seeded prior to sections being opened. CDTS also undertook species rich seeding to flood alleviation areas and balancing ponds, and the ongoing maintenance cutting and strimming.
