April 9, 2023Clyde is the largest wind farm in the UK and CDTS were contracted by Blackwells to hydroseed over 1 million m2 of special moorland grasses.
Hydroseeding was used to restore the soil disturbed by the installation of the turbinesand the areas adjacent to the access tracks. Due to the environmentally sensitive nature of the site, a site specific seed mix was formulated based on the local species found in the vicinity of the wind farm. The mix contained Heathers, Bilberries and moorland grasses like Cotton Grass.
CDTS carried out the hydroseeding using their largest hydroseeder a 6000lt, self propelled, four wheel drive unit, which was ideally suited to the conditions due to its ability to manoeuvre around site safely and hydroseed up to 30,000m2 per day. This contract has been successfully completed.
